A much-decorated amateur boxer out of Philadelphia, “Hammerin’” Hank Lundy has quickly established himself as an entertaining, exciting junior welterweight prospect.
Lundy first made his mark in 2003, winning the Outstanding Boxer Award at the USA Boxing Middle Atlantic Association Tournament. He was also Most Outstanding amateur Boxer at the eighth annual Salute to Philly Boxers, after capturing top honors in the 2003 Pennsylvania Golden Gloves.
Lundy went on to win several regional titles in 2004. In 2005 at the National Golden Gloves Tournament, Hank captured a silver medal and then went on to take the 2005 East Central Regional Championships, where he was the Outstanding Boxer, and Lucien Blackwell Tournament of Champions.
In 2006, he was the 141-pound open champ at the Middle Atlantic Championships and East Central Regionals. He was ranked No. 7 in the world and this year moved up two positions before turning in on July 7, 2006, when he recorded sensational first-round knockout of Steve Thomas at the Cape Cod Melody Tent in Hyannis (MA), and he followed that with a four-round “shutout” (40-36 three times) of One Shot Thomas at Foxwoods Resort Casino.
Riding a perfect 10-0 streak into an ESPN2 fight, Hank fought another undefeated prospect, Darnell Jiles, Jr. (8-0), to a thrilling four-round draw in his last fight on March 28.
Lundy is promoted by Jimmy Burchfield’s Classic Entertainment & Sports and trained by Charles Rame
